History Hero Will Wonder stands with a magnifying glass and trowel against a yellow background with coins. Caption reads: Summer Holidays Hoard Heroes Become a Curator

We're having a summer of Iron Age discovery!

Come to the Museum of Chelmsford to learn more about the Great Baddow Hoard and the people who would have handled these Iron Age gold coins. With three sessions to choose from and join in with, from treasure to learning about the Celts, the final weeks will be about how museums display and interpret unique and spectacular finds such as these.

Families can take part in crafts and games associated with the Great Baddow coin hoard and the museum, and learn something new along the way!

Weeks 5 & 6: Become a curator

Selection activities for children to move around at own pace:

  • Artefact Kim’s game – 2 trays set up on one table

  • Create artefact labels with matching artefacts to the description

  • Make an object – air dry clay

  • Design a product for the gift shop - badge making

Admission: One free adult per child, additional adults pay the museum admission fee of £4 unless they hold a membership.
