Bring history to life at our museum!

School visits run every day in term time from 10am to 2.15pm. Explore real stories of local people, places, and events through hands-on sessions and fascinating workshops. Our collections spark curiosity and imagination, making learning unforgettable.

Make an enquiry

Our learning sessions link to the National Curriculum and are led by expert museum tutors. We can adapt for different ages, tailor to your topic, or even create a bespoke session - just let us know when you enquire.

We do recommend you book as early as you can! Sessions are popular, so aim for at least a term ahead.

Want the museum in your classroom? Borrow our Discovery boxes! Exciting collections of real and replica objects as well as activities and ideas on how they can be used in lessons.

Entry to the museum is free for children and young people, adults pay £4. You are welcome to come on a self-led independent visit, but you will need to book if your group is larger than 10 people.

If you have any questions submit an enquiry form and our Learning team will help. Ahead of your visit, you can also view the visual accessibility guide to the museum.

Please note that we are unable to accommodate work experience for schools at this time. We’ll share an update here if that changes.
